Should Idols / Icons be used in worship?

The Bible clearly shows that they should not be used in worship:

“Guard yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:21)

“What agreement does God’s temple have with idols?” (2 Corinthians 6:16)

Notice what God Himself said about idols:

Ex. 20:4, 5: "You shall not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven or on earth beneath or in the waters under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God." (JB)
