Did God Use Evolution to Create Life?

Did God use evolution to create life? The teaching is known as "theistic evolution" and it holds that God used evolution in some way to create life. But for this teaching to be true, the Bible's account of the creation of Adam would merely be a story that wasn't intended to be taken literally.

The Bible plainly says that God created all livings things "according to their kinds". (Gen. 1:11,12, 21, 22, 24, 25)

Consider what others thought about the Bible's account of the creation of Adam and Eve:

The apostle Paul wrote: "And he made out of one [man] every nation of men, to dwell upon the entire surface of the earth". -Acts 17:26

It is evident that Luke also believed in the creation account in Genesis. In Luke 3:23-38, Luke traced Jesus' genealogy all the way back to Adam. Clearly, he didn't consider Adam to be a fictional character.

Jesus himself viewed the Genesis account to be true history when he said: "He who created them from the beginning made them male and female." - Matthew 19:4
