Why, in some Bibles, does it say that God called "THEIR name Adam"? (Gen. 2:5)

Most of us are familiar associating 'Adam' used as a proper name.

But the Hebrew word 'Adam' occurs as “man,” “mankind,” or “earthling man” over 560 times in the Scriptures and is applied to individuals and also to mankind in general.
